My stepsons' got two hamsters at their dad's place. One of them ended up eating the other one's head. Good times.

That was hamsters wasn't it? Not sure what the difference having a hamster or gerbil up your backside is

Well, the rules is Don't get pets for kids, but gerbils really are no trouble. I had the classroom ones during the school holidays once, when I was a nipper. They kept escaping their tank and all that sort of thing but no bother.

I did not realis(z)e that you could use the word nipper without the adjective 'wee'. Thanks for the protip.
