Yes. It's a surprise in one sense that it's so local now. They must have extremely specific intelligence.

Yep, thought that. Although they do scan laptops and ipads separately now, so maybe it's just because they don't trust the security at those countries.

Perhaps it's a software thing. Perhaps Tommy Terrorist has found a way to hack in to the aircraft systems.

Notice my casual use of 'hack in', there. These technical terms come very easily to me.

Not necessarily. There's a technical issue here but you wouldn't understand it p.

Just ban all passengers and luggage from flights imo. It would be a lot simpler.
