No fewmin here, b. Don't do self-employed or dividend scamming.

But in answer to your question, it was when those socialists Cameron and Osborne were in charge.

It's a poor state of affairs when there isn't an economically conservative party for which one might vote.

I think people like me, who set myself up as a limited company for no other reason than the tax benefits, can't really have any complaints about those particular loopholes being closed.

1% of taxpayers paying 27% of the tax take. It's clearly an aggressive, vindictive attack on the wealth creators in society; to what end, who knows?

You'll note further down the board that filth like monty are given free money with which to raise their litters. It's like full-blown communism.

Actually, the free money I am given is comfortably offset by the additional income tax I end up paying on the money I am able to earn by outsourcing my childcare requirements.

Justifying your acceptance of charity with spurious numbers doesn't alter the fact that you are not man enough to look after your child without stealing money from me.

Excuse me sir, but I suspect that when you raised a kid, your mortgage and childcare costs came in at significantly less than £4,300 a month.

But don't you understand? The only way to avoid stealing money from you for the upkeep of my children would indirectly mean depriving you of an even greater amount of money through a decrease in the amount of income tax I pay.

So you chose to have a child and a mortgage which you cannot afford.

But that's alright because every other poor **** gets to take up the slack.

You pay tax so that common people can go to the doctor every 5 minutes to get signed off work. Your income tax payments are irrelevant to me, because I do not live on charity.

I'm not complaining. I'm lucky enough not to need the contributions the government offers me. Whether or not I should therefore accept them is another debate.

I currently don't receive anything as my sprogs are under 3.

At 3, you start getting 30 hours free childcare per week, which is equal to something in the region of £200 a week in London.

And in today's budget, the government have announced they are also going to start offering an additional 2k per year towards childcare for all children under 12. Though I think that may be means-tested, in which case, much like Arsenal in next year's Champions League, I am unlikely to qualify.

So we're talking something like £1,800 per month for a low-earning family with two kids.

You paid personally for the roads you drive on? The infrastructure that supplies your house with electricity? The police that protect you? The hospitals and doctors who keep you healthy(ish)?

You're even richer than I thought, Charles.

Jesus, we get €280 per month for the two.

In terms of childcare there is similar incentives, unsure of the specifics, but this is subsidised by Govt for us and paid directly to the registered third party childcare providers - as opposed to money in the pocket.

Of course my own are beyond that stage so it is a complete irrelevance and on that basis one I disagree with.

And after a few years of careful spending and prudent saving, one could afford a halfway decent bottle of Scotch :-|
