First of all he's an auditor so I am nervous and suffer from that weird feeling I am going to say something wrong,

Knowing me I'll say 'do you like football?' 'who do you support, Spurs?'

A lot of jewishers attach them to their hair with clips. Here's a novelty one featuring a Star of David.

Out of interest, what is the symbolism of them? Are they just about covering your head in synagogue to show respect for God or is there more to it?

I know I had to wear one when visiting the Western Wall - quite fetching it was too

It's a leveller, I think. To cover up the bald patch for those afflicted.
