Really?

I have never known of the chap as an actor, more a daytime television presenter / Gordon the gopher sidekick.

A great actor, sw. Who can forget his scene in the Tower, with his daughter. "When a man takes an oath, Meg, it is as if he takes himself as sand between his fingers..." Something like that.

I suppose we have to thank Robert Bolt for the original play. A marvellous word.

I saw the play a few years ago, actually. Martin Shaw played Sir Thomas. He was no Scofield.

I have never seen a play tbh, doubt I ever will.

We were taken to one in Belfast when I was at school, Juno + the Paycock perhaps. Bunked off it to go drinking in the hotel up the road.

Wd early/mid 1980s school trips.
