Nonsense, we both know he would appreciate that goal for the sheer brilliance it was but would point to an even better goal he scored in an round 2 match in the Coppa Italia away to Cremonese.

that was my first thought as well - the ITV commentator was no doubt primed to say "Well that wouldn't be a free kick in the English league"

Lots of over-rated backs hoofing the ball into the stands, wasn't it. Sometimes they would fail even in this menial task and the ball would fail to find Row Z, fortunately though landing instead at the feet of someone who could actually play football, like van Basten, Massaro or Papin.
