What shall I order ?
I might try their turkey escallop in a bun and wash it down with the house Lucozade

No it's rolls, you tell em what you want them,
then they don't understand you and do something else.

and the price always seems to be different.

They sell cartridges of salt disguised as food by the occasional limp lettuce leaf

In my - admittedly limited - experience, all the rolls taste the same regardless of the ingredients you specify.

Might I suggest a chinese instead? At least the salt will have a layer of MSG for added flavour.

I will persuade Pat that his Subway card can be accepted in Chinese restaurants and go for a blow out
We are going to end up being threatened by angry little orientals waving meat cleavers and washing the dishes for 2 hours aren't we
:-(

Do you know, in desperation a couple of weeks ago, I had lunch in one of those Leon places in Liverpool street. You know, the ones part-owned by that fiercesome-looking lezza who used to plow Jack Monroe's furrow?
Well I went in, ordered some sort of meatballs, rice and salad effort. It was remarkably reasonably-priced and, do you know what, it was damned tasty. Tasty meatballs in a well-made sauce, properly cooked brown rice and a good, well-dressed salad - all for about a fiver, I think.
I was very pleasantly surprised, as I'd assumed it was just somewhere middle class mums took their kids to show they were better than the sort of people who took their kids to McDonald's. I mean, obviously it is that, but the food's actually quite competent.

As I'm drinking in the Old Nick in Holborn there is a reasonable chance that I might end the evening with a a Full English in Becks, Red Lion Street, alongside all the cabbies. It happened many times when I used to work round there.

v has told me similar stories BUT, I once saw a sign in the window of one of their restaurants offering 'healthy' food, so on principle I am unable to support their efforts at spreading socialist dogma. Fúck them I hope anyone who eats there, works there or is involved in an ownership capacity dies of scurvy once they have won and communism has reduced us all to a diet of boiled boots and belts.

Oh. Oh, right. Errrmmm...sorry I mentioned it. I'll just away and die of scurvy then, shall I? :-(

I must be honest, I'd always avoided it for its mention of the 'H' word (which has no place in gastronomy, as you know). But my only remaining reservation now is putting money in old Phil McCavity's pocket - or whatever it is she's called.

I apologise for my intemperate reaction, b, but as you know I feel strongly about fighting the Stalinist oppressors who are within a whisker of the Great Battle which we have fought for so long :-(

It didn't feel all that Stalinist, to be fair. I did have to make myself not think of thon lezza and Jack in Sapphic embrace in order to get the grub down, though.

That Jack's pretty hefty, I now realise. The two of them clashing must have been a Richter scale event.

Talking of Jack, xe's stopped talking about taking testosterone, smelling like a man and having her tits cut off. Between you and I, I suspect that she's got over her transphase.

What? She's purported to have a disorder, gained a load of attention and sympathy from assorted cretins and now it turns out she actually has no such disorder? :yikes:

You amaze me.

Is she still on the hurty legs? Has she managed to get the number of times she's been raped right yet? It seems to vary.

She's left twitter after she got a load of grief from transers for saying something polite to a TERF.

I mean, imagine being polite to someone!

That sounds about right. She loves a bit of victimhood.

Oh, she seems nice enough in one sense, but she is barking fücking mad and she encourages other mad people to think it's OK to be barking fücking mad as well.

She is a narcissist, a sponger and a commie.

I hope her legs hurt.
