One has gone quietly unnoticed. Peter Vaughan. Excellent character actor, with roles in Our Friends In The North, The Jury, Fox (lead role there) and the film Valentino amongst many others. 93, good innings. RIP.

As the scope of mass-media grew after WW2, growth of television and popular music basically created many more famous people. Now these are dying regularly so people better start getting used to it. Especially those who are fond of a spot of wailing and gnashing of teeth. Grief inflation lies ahead.
