View Full Version : Blimey! It's clearly the Guardian's day for addressing the key issues.

While I have my reservations about this suggestion of restricting types of internet porn, I do find myself longing for the good old days when we could just dismiss these people as perverts rather than pretend to take them seriously. :-(

I'm just mildly bemused about who gets to decide what is 'conventional'.

Monty's mum appears at first glance a decent, middle class mother, but as we all know the depths of her depravity are enough to turn a strong man's stomach. Are these activities 'unconventional'? She doesn't seem to think so.

Well obviously the thing is nonsense. Parliamentarians debating the conventionality or otherwise of sexual acts is ridiculous, since there is no baseline for how widespread an activity has to be in order to be considered 'conventional'. Are there going to be pie charts? Bar graphs? The debate promises to be highly amusing, if nothing else.

No, my complaint is about the fact that every sexual peccadillo now feels it should be able to represent itself without any coyness - let alone shame. I am of the opinion that if you are into certain things, then by all means enjoy them behind closed doors with consenting adults, but you still ought to be damn well ashamed of yourself about it.

Oh I am, trust me :-(

And rightly so. Anyway, surely shame is the seasoning that gives these things flavour? Where's the joy in depravity without shame?

Oh, God. I'm really very Catholic, aren't I? :-(

I got as far to see who the article was written by and gave up.
I can't trust anybody called Pandora Blake.

I don't imagine that's her real name, f. I expect she's really called Melissa.

I liked the line "After a traumatic, invasive investigation, I was forced to take my site offline". Yeah, I bet she knows how to give her slaves a traumatic, invasive investigation.

Actually, spanking is quite popular. I was at a conference on data this morning in some trendy 'workspace' in Spitalfields, and one of the speakers told of a party they threw where all drinks had to be purchased with tokens earned by answering a large number of highly personal questions, including those of a sexual nature. ISTR an example where about 45% said they liked spanking their partner during sex.

Well if we're talking about the odd encouraging slap on the rump, that's one thing, but I wouldn't call it spanking, exactly.
