View Full Version : Could Lucas be like a Skiltord? A forward who can also play on both flanks?

He assisted from either side last night and he used to play as a winger, did he?

Remember 15 years ago, when we needed a goal, AW would just throw on a striker, then another one until we scored. Having Lucas and Olly on the bench will allow us to do that - can't remember the last time we had two proper strikers on the bench like we did with Kanu and Skiltord etc.

I could see us ending some games with Olly in the middle, Lucas and Alexis wide with Ozil behind them if we're chasing a winner. Lucas gave an assist for Ox in the EFL and played the pass for the penalty. And his goal was cutting in from the flank. So I just wonder if he could be a Skiltord, cos I loved him.

Dear old Crop Circles, he was great really, wasn't he?

He always calls to mind greg mitchell's description of lesbian porn being like Sylvain Wiltord. It just goes round and round in circles and never really gets anywhere. :hehe:

I have a feeling Lucas will be an attendant lord who we won;t see much of and even less if Giroud and Welbeck return and manage not to get too injured and may then be quietly fobbed off next summer.

I think he's a good player but I'm not quite sure he is Arsenal standard.

But he did score the goal that won the double at OT. The culmination of a 13 match winning streak which started with a 1-0 win vs Everton where he shinned it in. I think, cos he covered for both Freddie then Bobby's injury, that he played more games that either.

I liked Skiltord for that. He was not only vital, but the perfect example of a squad player. He was the 1st choice substitute or cover for the whole of the front 4.

I remember one game where we were down 2-0 at home to Villa at HT. The Brummies were chanting "Highbury the library." AW brought Skiltord on for Freddie and we won 3-2. He scored straight after the restart, and then, at 2-2, he had a perfectly good goal disallowed near injury time, but Titi still managed to score the winner in the dying seconds.

But then I loved Bendtner as well.

I do worry about that. Without those two, you could see AW really try and use him, but once they are back, Olly gives us the plan B lump it to the big man, and Welbz is proven quality and versatile. Can't have all 3 on the bench barring a freaky injury situation.

Though with Joel and Serge gone, a winger injury crisis atm could see him as an option there.

Ah good old Greg Mitchell....that is a great line, though I can't say I miss the torrent of invective he regularly spewed at so many on here.

Wilts was never quite who we first thought he might be but was a quality player nonetheless and did quite well once he accepted he wasn't going to play up top regularly. He earns bonus points for being in the starting XI for the 4 1 thrashing at Elland Road. Maybe my favourite match ever. It was like we were playing on skates while they were in snowshoes :)

Welbeck will probably play on the left more often than not, and Giroud will be gone next summer imo.

He's certainly out of favour - would be surprised if he stayed. But then life is full of surprises. Gareth Batty is playing for England ffs

Was just going to make a post about that test. I'm not really liking all this spin bowling. Broad might as well have stayed at home.

Do women never have orgasms in lesbian porn then?

Haven't seen any of it yet but I generally share your view on too much spin. Doesn't even help the over-rate as there are so many sodding reviews

Also, we're not very good at playing it. :-(

The thing is, though, India's refusal to have it usually helped us out more than it did them.

True, but it's all mind games, innit. This is an important concession they've made.
