I have no love for the club Gary Sprake played for but at least he didn't play in the 72 cup final. He was, though, a prominent footballer in the very first years of my acquaintance with this sport and featured in the various football annuals and books I got for Christmas, which as a small child, I pored over for years after. He might have played for durty Leeds but he was no Billy Bremner.
