I know it's de rigueur to be outraged about something at all times, but surely your average Russkie ought to be more concerned about the price of beetroots or something?

But portraying Russians as vulgar, gaudy and lacking in refinement? Outrageous! Where could he have got such an idea?

He was always basically a novelty act/comic singer, wasn't he? He always struck me as a bit Butlins Redcoat if you know what I mean.
