PB? Peanut butter?

Did my six miler last night down by the river. Getting a bit dark now, depressingly. Have to start road-running again. Bloody winter.

'Personal Best'. It's what we runners say when we go faster than we have before.

My treadmill cares not whether it is light or dark, wet or dry :cloud9:

My multigym is arriving tomorrow. I need monty's advice on how much to bench.

Treadmills are for women who don't want to go out running for fear of being raped. A real man wouldn't be seen near one.

Multi-gym? A weights bench, some free weights and a set of chest expanders is all a chap needs.

Well yes, but we have to rehearse these little bickers. It's traditional.

It's like a bench with a free weights bar but it takes attachments. I've got the leg extender thing coming with it.

There's no way I'm admitting to that on an open forum, p. I could say 19:18 and every **** here would claim to be doing it in 9 minutes flat.

I don't smoke cigarettes but the wife occasionally does so I sometimes pinch a breakfast fag from her.

Yes. I'm working on the theory that they're good for building quads, and it's quads that protect your knees.

In truth, I know fúck all about it. Yay!

Yes, and the only way to do it properly would be to go to a gym and be patronised by some musclebound **** who probably left school with 1 GCSE, so fùck that, obviously. Your hit-and-hope approach is the correct one.

Actually, he sort of hounded himself out. Everyone stopped responding to him and he got huffy and left.

And I would never be anything other than polite to you. You have firearms.

:hehe: Politeness is good when one may have to back up his acts with his life, as the man said.

I use my treadmill. I have a fantastic view from it, listen to whatever the hell I want to listen to at full volume without disturbing anyone. And avoid rapists, car fumes, potential traffic accidents and inclement weather.

19.18 for 5k is pretty good for an amateur. I might have done it in 16.00 in my heyday but would struggle to do it in 22.00 now I guess.

Raspberry, blueberry, pear, apple, pineapple, banana and yoghurt smoothie and a cup of coffee for me.

One of those new Quaker Oats - super goodness packs. They come in a super poncey new box and have a handful of drehydrated grits, masquerading as Guava, Cranberry and blueberry thrown into the bag. They're very nice but in an effort to maximise on profit, the reptiles at Quaker have charged a quid more for the experience than their more standard fayre of apple and blueberry, available in the boring normal box and they've quaintly short changed the consumer by providing 8 sachets instead of 10.. Nice..

I was bemoaning my relative lack of pace to a friend of similar age who regularly runs such times and he put things into perspective by suggesting I look around at all the people I know and ask myself how many of them could run 5,000 metres in any time without suffering an infarct. The number was suprisingly few. Of any age, even.

No not professional. I didn't do many track 5000s. I ran 800 in 1.59 and 1500 in 4.17 but never trained enough to have the miles in my legs to let me kick on further.

Monty knows nothing.

A man of your years should pick a weight you can do 15-20 reps with and do 4 sets of as many as you can with 1-2 minutes between sets. Gets the heart rate up and will help with muscle definition so that V continues to see you as a sex god even in these twilight years.
