Where have our English players gone?

There seemed a time not so long ago when we where possibly making up and nurturing the next half of the England team. What went wrong? When Wenger asked for things such as this kid has played too many games recently or was just coming back from injury can you give him a rest or just half a game the England set up ignored Wengers requests, even in friendlies. Wenger even had to argue once that he can either play for the under 21's or the full team but for both is madness. Then there was we are going to conduct our own medical to see if he is fit enough to play. If i was managing a club, I don't think i'd want to work with the England set up that much either, maybe things have changed but it's all too late fora certain crop of young players, hopefully not for all of them.
