Nice girl, reasonably bright, not too common, wants to be a photographer ( ) and probably quite reasonable-looking, but she's absolutely covered in bloody tattoos and has studs through her nose.

What on earth possesses these people? She could probably get a proper job if she looked normal, but her silly choices have basically limited her to casual menial labour or freelancing. It actually made me quite sad. I also feel a bit shīt that we're paying the agency £11.50 an hour (less than we were paying our previous cleaner), of which she's getting just £7.50. :-\ Now I'm no socialist, but that feels wrong to me.

The awkward moment will come when she asks if she can photograph you Berni.

You could leave her a fiver a week as a tip. More if she wears a french maid outfit.

Do you think that would go with the tattoos and piercings?

THREAD HIJACK ALERT.
I will purchase a new amp at some point.
Fender Blues Junior or Vox AC15?

I'm thinking we should offer her extra work cash in hand. Like cleaning the oven, maybe?

I have worked as a photographic model, I'll have you know. OK, I was about 7 and my dad was running the ad agency and only had to pay me in ice cream, but still.

Oh I wasn't suggesting you wouldn't make an excellent subject but it could lead to a terrible timing situation.

For example I am not really a dog person and there was a short time where this neighbour would take her dog out whilst all Lycra'd up and she'd always be walking past and say hello as I arrived home. So the one day I decide to give the dog a stroke my wife comes round the corner. :hehe: Bad timing.

I'm no amp expert, f. Ash is your man for such a decision.

Cleaning the oven is a euphemism, right?

This was the seventies. It would have been a 99 con flake.

 I'd also ask her to polish my brassware.

I'm assuming 'give the dog a stroke' is a euphemism?

:cloud9: It's lovely. I am making do with my current set up until I move place which will have to have an area I can play guitar a little bit without worrying about disturbing people.

Not to harp on about the same old thing this is one of the things I like that my canadian relatives have. They have space to do stuff like like this. My uncle has a whole set up in the basement and can play properly without any worries.

Hmm. Good luck with that. The only time I turn up loud is in a rehearsal studio, though one way to get a nice overdriven sounds at low volume is to use pre-amps to massively overdrive the amp. I used to chain a couple of pre-amp pedals into my HiWatt to get a nice valve distortion on the bass at very low volume.

I mainly use software at the moment. Mainly Amplitube and Guitar Rig 5 for software they actually come up with some really good sounds. Amplitube has deals with Marshall, Orange etc to give a virtual version of their amps. What I do like about it I can play with all different settings and effects without having to purchase a million pedals. It's much better than I ever thought it would be.

Though nothing would beat playing through a real amp. I am thinking of hiring a rehearsal space just for jamming. I can split it with my mate.

Do you still actively play?

Good idea.

THat reminds me. Just to threadjack the threadjack here's another bass-riff-based track. So simple but the occasional harmonic variant thrown in while the guitar layers crash and slide around really does itfor me.

Just to rehijack it for a sec, could someone tell me what they think is a reasonable hourly rate to pay a cleaner?

I have no idea. Monty has form in that area of economic activity. I applaud your instinctive unease at the expropriation of surplus value by the parasitical agency though.

She's only worth 50p, to be honest.

Yeah. That's what we paid the old one. She did a good job. Always folded the lavatory paper into a little arrow like in a hotel.

It's not so much the agency that bothers me - middle men are what they are - as the fact that this poor girl is effectively going to be getting half what my previous cleaner did for the same job. Now I know the laws of supply and demand are in this instance working in my favour, but it don't seem right.
