I tried to give Brian May ago as much as I am not a Queen fan.

As far as I'm concerned, Queen were only ever supposed to be a sort of trainer band for kids to get into pop/rock music. You grew out of them really quickly. Any adult who's into Queen probably needs their hard drive to be scrutinised.
