Leading to one of the more surprising defensive partnerships that I thought I would never see.

There wasn't much wrong with Gallas other than petulance. Silvestre was ****.

I just remember at the time being at one match and thinking I never thought that I'd see a defensive pairing or Gallas and Silvestre playing for the Arsenal. As they were former Chelsea and United players.

He has a serious talent for ****ing off a large slice of the fans before a ball is kicked. Looking at the players getting snapped up by our main competitors, you have to ask, if our man is actually going to start the season with one heavyweight signing, again.
I had a chuckle at a piece in the Telegraph, that quoted him as saying how scared he was of retirement.
A fairly hefty hint that he's got quite accustomed to getting his annual 8 mill per year without really having to win anything..
Who can blame him. Let the good times roll.. Until some loon goes for the assassination route, I suppose.

Ermm...You know we haven't actually played a game yet, don't you?

Remember that fans Q+A, when some chap called Silvestre 'geriatric' ? Arsene has barely spoken to an Arsenal fan ever since :hehe:

Indeed, a little early to be losing the plot here.

Still, Jonny Evans.

Though Wenger was taking the piss with Silvestre.

That old chestnut doesn't seem to wash with our competitors though, who appear far more targeted and prepared. When you weigh up our predilection for actually doing nothing til the last day, you'll excuse me for that deja vu foreboding.
It's pretty obvious that Wenger gets a buzz out of being the manager who spends the least. He almost has a point to prove to the financially doped. You just know he's up for re using tea bags when the tin gets a bit low.

I remember when we signed Ozil. 'Mesut ****ing Ozil!'

I think mr evans will get the same response. It's all about context.

Judge him in May

Or January/February, when we've exited the CL as it begins to get interesting.

We judged him in may, man! Last May, after the team nosedived catastrophically. I though this year would be different.

Those would be our competitors who finished below us last season, yes? Or are you including Leicester?

I'm genuinely surprised that when Arsene is banging on about how expensive players have become no journo has seen it fit to point out to him he is the most expensive manager in the premiership.

My point is that those who finished below us have at least identified the seasons short comings, so as to go into the new one with improved squads. We, on the other hand, ended the campaign with the overall consensus that we needed a striker and, possibly more importantly, a top drawer CB.
Wenger has so far done nothing to improve us in those areas. To me, this is surely the job of a good manager ?
It looks so far, as if he's missed out on those targets and is now trawling about for whoever may be available that might improve the squad.
Either way, it doesn't look great at this stage. Failing to persuade Vardy that his future was better served at Arsenal, as opposed to staying at Lester, gives the impression that perhaps we've lost that allure factor.
It's pure speculation of course but I'm sure had it been United, Chelsea or City, he'd have been on his way.
