running and how to go about starting it.

I can't find it so what where to start for an overweight ****er who smokes a pack a day who has no cardio.

 Many times people just say go for a walk. I don't have the time for this and I walk all the time I don't feel any benefit.

Start off walking and go a bit faster until you are running.... there are loads of sites (virgin marathon won) with tips for beginners.
Build it up slowly and don't just go at the same pace every day, vary what you do and get lots of rest

 at what point do I start buying all the gear?

I normally do it before hand then jack it in.

Damn it. Any recommendations? I want cheap ones.

I better buy some shorts too otherwise I'll look like a dick running around in 501s

 does anybody actually ever consult their doctor before partaking in a new activity?
I assume it's just a disclaimer when giving advice.

Understand that it will feel tough. If it doesn't then you're not pushing yourself hard enough. Equally, don't overdo it (start slowly and build up until you feel you are pushing yourself).

A lot of it is a psychological battle. Just don't give up.

Sod all that f. Get yourself one of these. Two walks a day, around 7 to 10 miles and all the love and loyalty you could ask for on four legs. :cloud9:
They don't nag either.
