Wait, Philly Green is jewish? ****, I've been really critical of him and now it looks like I've been anti-semetic.

What an arsehole though.

Anyway, it's Sir Arsehole to you.

That's where we are as a country, knighting arseholes like this when they dont even have the good grace to keep their money in their name or in the country.

Yeah, well you can blame Tony Blair for that one. He was always very impressed by anyone with a few quid, was Tone.

Yes. This is one of the few areas on which we have common political ground. The mystery, of course, is why people couldn't see just how slimy, weird and patently insincere the man was at the time. I mean I know the Tories had been in for an awful long time and then presented pretty limp opposition when he was in power, but even so, I found his electoral appeal utterly mystifying.

Yeah, though I imagine we hate him for utterly different reasons though. I do remember you being quite a big fan of the profitable and in no way counter productive early 2000s middle-east invasion trolley dash though, did his warmongering not soften your feelings towards him at all?

Oh the war was fine. No issues with that, other than the rather unseemly posturing he did with Bush and the fact that he kept using the armed forces without spending the money required to keep them properly manned and equipped.

I just couldn't abide the ****. He made my gorge rise.

The posturing was precisely *because* they are ill-manned and equipped. That's how it works.

Right. We don't mind really, so long as we have access to American assets; in return, we make a big show of our diplomatic solidarity with them.

Yes, plus there was always the slight suspicion that Blair used the military as much as he did because it gave him the (figurative or actual) horn.

Surely he had no need for extra stimulus when he had such a beautiful and sexually voracious wife, b?

I dont think it was the hardware itself, just the abity to stand at the podium and say things like "Now is not the time for soundbites.....y'know....[does weird hand thing].....but today I feel the hands of history on my shoulder"

In fairness to him, at that moment he really had no option but to be totally unequivocal. "Prime Minister Corbyn" may have a choice; let's see what *he* does.

Hmmm. He had kind of backed himself into that position, though, hadn't he? He chose to give himself no choice.
