A couple of good "Ooooooooorrrrrrrrrrrrrdeeeeeerrrrrrrrrrrrr!"s today, maybe one even worthy of his best bits.

Possibly the ones who keep having punch-ups in their parliaments?

All of them really. I know we're quite used to the whole business but I reckon to most people a guy sat on a sack dressed like a harry potter character screaming Ooooooooorrrrrrrrrrrrrdeeeeeerrrrrrrrrrrrr over and over again might look a bit weird.

Also, have you ever tried explaining the opening of parliament to anyone?

Or perhaps the ones currently being drone-tomahawked into oblivion so hard they've decided they'd rather, on balance, join us in our "farce"?

Ooooooooorrrrrrrrrrrrrdeeeeeerrrrrrrrrrrrr, order, Ooooooooooooooooorrrrrrrdeeeeeeeeerrrrrrrrrrrrrrr! !

The right honourable gentleman from Ware will take his seat or will be asked to leave the forum.

Lots of things people from other countries do look odd to us. Nips bowing, continentals kissing each other's cheeks, Chinese hawking and spitting, Yanks pledging allegiance to flags, Thais worshipping their royalty, Mexicans having a day of the dead, etc, etc.

People do things differently all over the world and it works for them. You seem to think that there is some sort of platonic ideal of how things ought to be done to which everyone ought to conform. There isn't.

None of that stuff looks as.....well......bent though, does it?

I find the sight of grown men kissing each other's cheeks quite bent, yes.

Meh, its on the bent spectrum, sure, it's just not as bent as Black Rod, which sounds like a sauna. Also, look at the state of him!

Our Parliament goes back rather longer than most, j. For that reason, it has picked up a number of ceremonial traditions along the way. They do no harm and they add to the tapestry of things in a way people rather like.

You can decry your country's traditions and reject hundreds of years of democracy if you will, but doing so using homophobic language reflects particularly poorly on you.

I'd say the current one is the other way round, tbh. Doesn't seem to mention the big lad upstairs much.

And live in a theme park - yes please (Not Disneyland though)

Yeah. Although I don't hold with Popes retiring. You don't get to quit being God's representative on Earth imo.

But come on though, if it lasted back to caveman times would we be wearing loin cloths? The pomp only highlights the ridiculous constitutional situation more.

And yeah, I'm back on that horse again.

That particular incident was sub-continentals; in truth it usually is, but I have a couple of Lebanesers chalked up on my scoreboard for a touch of variety.
