I cant wear hats, they instantly make me look like a r'tard.

Though hats in general do make people look r'tarded.

I like to sport a baseball cap whilst in the states.
It has to have a curved peak. not flat, Can't be looking like some Hip hop wanabe. Or an Arsenal player on a night out.

The Tilley is a fine bush hat but is far more suitable for ladies than for gentlemen. They tend to flop a bit in real life.

For a chap, the Barmah is the way forward. http://www.bushgear.co.uk/

Not for me, Clive. I even eschew activities where a hats are required.

The effect is akin to...

I was assuming that it's a working hat; it it's for city wear, have you considered a Panama?

Lake district in a couple of weeks then Turkey in the summer

Very nice. You'll be wanting at least two different sorts of hats then, I suppose.

My head is simply too large to successfully rock hats. I wear a wide-brimmed white job or a club cap when playing cricket and that's it.

My head size does mean i am a bit limited when it comes to hats... baseball caps look **** and at my advanced age I look more of a **** than normal..... Tilley or Bushgear looks like the choice

I admire your un-natural optimism with respect to the Lake District.

Surely what you need for that trip is a good cagoule, perhaps a K-Way pacamac.

Far from it. The Barmah is perfect for all tropical and sub-tropical conditions.

I left mine on Songo Songo last year and had it returned to me just in time to take to the Lakes.

Mine's the 1064, I think; it's certainly brown suede and folds away nice and small.

I've had it for about 10 years and the more it's used, the better it looks. Marvellous thing.
