Yeah, there is the danger that they'll tell you he's dead or in prison or a loony bin or something and you'll really have upset them, though.

A dead university friend of mine still shows up as alive on one of those, though. :-( She died three years ago.

I find it creepy and distasteful - like those roadside memorials of people who get killed on the road. I know they seem like a good idea at the time, but they soon end up looking tatty, ragged and unkempt and end up serving only to freak people out. I wouldn't allow them. Let the dead bury the dead, that's what I say. Anything else is creepy.
