It is getting ridiculous, almost every day someone really well known pops their clogs, and many of them are in their 50s and 60s. So what is the justification for raising the state pension age?

I know, right. And he wasn't even a drink and drugs man :-(

Loved the little fella I did as a young chap. Bought everything between 'Prince' and 'Batman', at which point I gave up due to him having gone a bit **** - even had a bootleg of the black album.

Still, very sad - although he hadn't released anything good for yonks, so it's not like we're being cheated of any meisterwerks or anything.

Still. When he was good he was really awfully good. RIP.

When he was good he was very, very good. But when he was bad he was better.

I don't think the whole Jehova's Witness thing helped his compositions much.

I can't say I've listened to any of them for about forty years either, to be honest. Although, the other morning, I did perform a fine, if not universally popular, rendition of "Yesterday" in my bath.

The thing is, in matters such as these, if parents agree with, and approve of, their children's choices, *then* something is badly wrong.

Good and fun is whatever it is the old folks don't approve of.

Yes. But good and fun isn't important bit isn't genius. It doesn't change your life. That's what I'm regretting the kids missing.

Just asked my lad (18) who the names are that when he's 45 years old and the grim reaper picks one, everyone will go "****, not ....."

Kendrick Lamar, Arctic Monkeys, Jay-Z, Eminem, Dre, Kanye (for his early stuff)

I'm going to have to brush up on the Kendrick Lamar....

They'll surely have different media and interests.

I sat through Aida and Faust, as a kid. Nowadays, youngsters can't even watch a football match all the way through; they watch it snippets and highlights and vines.

40 years ago this year was The Damned releasing New Rose. Pistols, Jam, Clash and Stranglers released their albums next year.

There's always hope. It's just that fuddy-duddies, through necessity, do not want to see it. It's still no excuse to betray the future though, by slowing the kids down to their speed.

No, you're wrong and far to quick to jump to conclusions which reflects poorly on you as a human being and also as a so-called self perceived gentleman.

The whole area of importance or to tease it further influence relevant to popular music is subjective and equally so one that can never be proven or the opposite of proven.

I was merely curious as 4th is quite a lofty position (Arsenal/football reference there).
