and thrice-cooked chips. So, posh steak and chips, basically.

It is a frighteningly large piece of meat. :-(

lovingly-made chips. No brownsauce, though. There have to be limits.

My Mrs has f**ked off to the Wales with the kids.

Easter and all that ****.

Tonight will see me sample the pleasure of the “Spice Bag” from the local Gooks. Last night was Indian.

I simply could not get the time off.

:cloud9:

Nor would flying over on Friday have really been worth it.

:cloud9:

Pubs are closed all day friday here.

That is why they invented supermarkets imo.

It wouldn't be a special meal if I just served up a normal sized steak, would it?

Not a drop of alcohol can be bought in Ireland on this day. Chaos tomorrow night in the supermarkets as people stock up Nuclear war style.

Indeed, I'm sure he'd have raised a glass himself if his hands hadn't been otherwise engaged.

Tourists arrive here and cannot even find a drunk Irishman to take photos of.

Bedlam a few years ago when Munster and Leinster were scheduled to play a minor game on the day so a court decision was made to allow people to drink in Limerick, or within certain boundaries of Limerick. Doesn’t take a f**king genius to work out what happened that day.

Mind you I did once get the Rosslare – Fishguard ferry so I could pint.

Did the similar for Valentine's Day. No bernaise or 'French fries' though. Wine reduction with roasted baby carrots and a baked potato. Reverse sear method. Cook at 120C until internal temp reaches 50C. Meat thermometer is a must. Remove from oven and sear in piping hot cast iron skillet. 4minutes each side and 2 minutes on the ends.

The advantage was that you had a 'wider' range of medium rare. Not that grey all around with **** in the middle. All **** from top to bottom. Also, serve immediately, no need for juices to redistribute.

First time I tried it and it was much better. Downside is that you really don't know when it will be done. Lots longer, but how much longer than the conventional method?

Edit: Put her posh frock "on Her", I mean, of course. Not you.
