View Full Version : I find it massively spasticated when people get accused of political opportunism after events like

terrorist attacks.

If someone wants us out of the EU in part because they believe staying in puts as at greater risk of terrorism, it strikes me as entirely logical and reasonable that they should raise the issue after an attack on European soil.

Man 1: “You’re going to get run over if you stand in the road””

Man 2: Yeah, wotevs dude”

*squelch*

Man “I did tell you, mate!”

Man 2: “Stop making political capital!”

Also, for bonus points, please show your workings on how being mates with the US and accompanying them on every fools errand war doesnt make us more susceptible to terror.

actual problem at hand?

Of course, if talking to someone personally affected by the event, then of course your first concern should be to offer sympathy. But for anyone else, there is no duty to stick to 'safe' topics.

rather than piling in and blurting out I told you so when the actual facts of an event are still unfolding is often a particular stupid thing to do

"It's all our fault!"

It is important to remember that all terrorism started on 12th September 2001. Before that, nothing.

It would actually make not one jot of difference to someone who believes the EU is a hotbed of terrorism. It would neither strengthen nor weaken their position.

So whether or not the full facts have emerged is basically irrelevant.

all the freedoms it affords kinda scary. Seems an odd time to be expanding that loophole while there’s so many of the c**ts that want us dead.

Oh and I expanded your mum's loophole last night, obvs.

Luis Anaconda

that's a spectacularly poor argument by any standards. What happens it emerges then the Amish attacked because they were so upset at the prospect of an Brexit that they bombed the heart of the EU but would turn their attention and their disappointment towards Britain

as no-one except idiots worries about right-wing terrorism just because of that Breivik lad.

It would change nothing.

If anything, you are just pointing out how absolutely and totally unnecessary it is for a public figure known for his/her view on EU/terrorism etc to jump in front of the nearest microphone and shout I told you so within seconds of an event happening

Let’s face it, it was only a handful of Belgians. People will have forgotten about it in a few days. Makes sense to strike while the iron’s hot.

whilst Belgian victims are unlikely to tug on the world's heart strings in the same way as French ones. Most of the world couldn't point to Belgium on a map. Furthermore, with attacks seemingly happening more regularly, we're all becoming somewhat immune to the shock.

which you clearly believe many do or you wouldn't have brought up the subject, then it isn't getting people to vote for them - it is turning people off. Well done, you've answered your own question
