The old Bangkok airport at Dong Muang was always a proper introduction to the East, with its massive banner covering one wall advising, 'The Penalty For Drugs Is Death' and two hour queues at immigration to be grunted at by a sunglass-wearing gun-toting boy soldier who might, or might not, decide to slip a baggie of Horse into your hand luggage.

Suvarnabumi is all crisp and shiny and efficient :-(
