It is a shame as Wenger has done so much over the last 12 years to keep us competitive and solvent. No other manager could have been able to do that given our circumstances. We've known this, we have known the constraints. Even the biggest whinger knows that we have had to play a different game to the Chelseas and Man Citys of this world over the last few years.

The problem is now we don't have to play that game. We still aren't City or Chelsea or even ManU but we are able to compete to an extent. It is beginning to look like Wenger is so entrenched in trying to do it his way that he is losing sight of the goal. Nothing succeeds like success. Within reason, if you win, no one cares how you did it. Principals, morals, the "right way" don't really hold much weight .

I do worry for the him. I hope he does not suffer these defeats too much. It is difficult to see a simple way out. Unfortunately, where can Wenger look other than at himself?

It is difficult to know or appreciate how good a manager Wenger has been until he actually leaves.

more from some of them.

If there is any honesty in that dressing-room they should accept that practically all of them have let down the club and the fans over the past few months.

Wenger should have wielded the axe in the summer, not brought out the soft-soap. Instead he must seriously consider leaving in the summer or, at the least, not consider a new contract so the cun has enough time for an orderly succession.

We've fallen so far and in so many ways that a top manager coming is sure to do better. Particularly if they bring in a few more commanding players.

It'll take 10 years before people forget the decline of the last few years and appreciate his achievements and his heroic effort to keep us competitive on a reduced budget.

sad really but he ll be remembered as a good manager now rather than a great one imo

there is also a fear that if he leaves, we will struggle.

The problem is, we will only know when he does leave.

has a team which is performing below its theoretical capabilities. We should be walking this league. Instead, we have fewer points than we did at the same point last season. And surely part of the reason is the refusal to change or strengthen the squad?
