Very well made documentary that kept you guessing the jury's decision right to the end.
I don't think a life for a life is ever justifiable but a life sentence without parole could be the greater punishment, especially in some of those US prisons that appear to make ours look like a day out at Thorpe Park.
You couldn't not have sympathy for the mother, who, alongside the bereaved family, will ultimately pay the greater cost.

a death sentence.
The death row majority refused to negotiate further after day 2 of deliberating and the other two ultimately signed, as a type of capitulation.
The accused had previously stabbed and attacked the daughter, who thereafter, refused him access to their child.
The kid was clearly a nutcase who then opted to brutally murder both parents in the family home by bludgeoning them both to death with a sledge hammer. This guy didn't just go for the one swing, forensics calculated 17 and 19 blows to each victim.

As I get older and more reactionary, my once solid objection to the death penalty wanes a bit, I must admit.

Not only do I no longer retain the youthful idealism that insists that life is sacred, but I frankly resent the cost of paying for c**ts like that to be kept alive.

who was out of the house, to come back home, using the fathers phone.
He actually lied in wait for three hours for her to walk through the door.

Violent father, who used to beat his mother in front of him as a four year old.
How many times is it the case that victims turn perpetrators.
I don't think I could have fried him but only on the grounds that in a civilised society, we should be better than that

to the rest of society. In this country, the f**ker could be out of prison by the time he's not much more than 40 and perfectly able to do it all again. f**k that. Kill him.

We're not 'better than that' as a society. if we were, we wouldn't produce such people. Besides, there are plenty who've endured worse childhoods who've gone on to be useful, decent members of society.

Basically, the world is better off without certain people.

Imagine if Michael Mann made a film about hare coursing. You'd explode.

Perps are often victims at an earlier age.

Or anyway, they at least know bludgeoning people to death with sledgehammers is wrong.

The pay is better, for a start.

Leave him alone, he had a job to do.

You cant expect someone to follow all the rules of the geneva convention in a situation like that. It's kill or be killed.
