View Full Version : This is sort of interesting - we take the third least shots from outside the box in the PL:

When I think about Walcott's goal vs City, it's v much testament to 'have a go' - which doesn't happen often enough in our team, considering our players, imo.

so clearly we are able to get closer to the goal to shoot so why narrow your chances down from shooting from further away.

Not sure Walcott's goal is that good example - he actually receives the ball inside the box and nudges it about a millimetre outside it

If the requisite number of passes aren't executed in each move, the index finger of the great and wise applies a reminder style shock.

Given that very few shots from outside the box go in, it's not unreasonable to adopt a policy of trying to shoot from an area right in front of goal, as I believe the stattos have demonstrated is Arsenal's approach. With some success overall, tbf. Our weakness in recent seasons has been defensive.

Of course when we are starved of goals, as we have been a little bit of late, it is not surprising that the policy is questioned.

In other words: "Shooooooooooooooooooooot!"

Basically it wasn't always the policy - we've always had amongst the most shots on target in the league but previously we'd see the likes of Henry, Pires, Bergkamp have a go from further away.

We certainly have the players capable - Sanchez, Ramsey, Giroud - I just don't really understand it.

Basically, I miss seeing them.

I genuinely could not, nor still do, understand his thought pattern.

And trust me I do not need reasons to dislike him.

but is actually a perfectly human response.

I expect Monty rose to his feet and applauded.

"Well played Olivier, now let's go again".
