View Full Version : It's also a bit rich fans complaining about an obsession with money since they started it

No one in the 80s went into football to make a profit (failed orange businessman David Dein aside, perhaps), money wasn't a priority for those in the boardroom. Yet in the mid 80s - and I can only speak from experience here - it was the fans who could only talk of cash. If George Graham's team wasn't 7-0 up at half-time, the inevitable response from the North Bank, who were all paying reasonable prices at the time, was "Georgie, get you cheque book out". Seems to be that sort of moaner - and, yes Ash, I know it isn't everyone, but there is a large breed of football fan who just f**king moans about everything and has been doing so for decades - was very happy spending other people's money but less keen to part with too much of their own, certainly not without griping about it

the result will be that we all pay the club a fair price of 200 GBP for our season tickets, which nobody will ever give up (like me, who has kept it despite moving abroad and sells at face value to a friend). How will we prevent people from just selling these tickets for a huge markup at the supply/demand defined market price though?
There is something in the argument that clubs shouldbe cautious about squeezing us too much in the short term, in case the "real" fans become alienated, lose interest and then disappear in the event that this bubble bursts. There's nothing to indicate that the bubble is going to burst though

The magsafe charger is one of the most singularly perfect bits of design ever. Firewires less so
