Sort of related to the debate below, I was wondering whether anybody had furtively attempted to form meaningful relationships with other football clubs.

I have a couple of gooner friends who are recent converts to Clapton Ultras and know another chap, a disgruntled Chelsea fan, who has recently started extolling the virtues of Dulwich Hamlet.

I myself have tried to find something to love in Bradford City - there isnt anything even I can love there - and I've also rather enjoyed a couple of outings to Guiseley FC and Farsley Celtic.

Have any other awimbers been guilty of seeing other football clubs?

I used to get on the bus to the Valley with friends who were Charlton fans. It was heaps of fun and a good learning experience standing on the Covered End, but I never experienced the tiniest thrill of affection for Charlton and always felt rather guilty being there at all.

That sort of 'squint and they're the arsenal' thing but it's very much like chosing a stripper as she looks like your ex, isnt it?

Just me? Oh.

Charlton were funny. They used to sing about doing Millwall :hehe: And there was lots and lots and lots of racial 'banter' :-(

often at home when Arsenal were away. Barnet were non-league then.
Tottenham and Hendon also alternated. Someone really had thought about it!

I used to know a lady who lived on the Herbrand Estate round there, she was very convenient for a late night pit stop.

I can't really bring myself to be upset in the odd occasion the take points off us.

I also used to go to West Ham quite a lot as a teenager and enjoyed it - although I always want us to stuff them.

Hendon Central. That was a bit of a bus combo to Underhill though driving licences and cars were on the horizon. Then, age 17, I upped and went to Peterborough with a West Ham supporting mate. I am not overly far from Peterborough now here in south Lincs but in forty years I doubt that I have been to London Road more than four times. And one of those was to play there myself.

Or was the maternity ward in the Cruciform building? Might explain your partiality to a bit of gothic.

can confirm they have improved. This was back at Filbert St on the kop. I remember when Arsenal came in the league cup, it was Wrighty's debut and of course he scored. That night definitely confirmed my allegiance to Arsenal.

Lived in Chester for the last 12 years and never seen them, ground is a soulless place, seen Wrexham a few times though.

I used to watch Aldershot a lot as a kid until I was allowed to travel to London on my own, still always keep an eye out for their score

nowt. I get the best seats in the house - often the TV gantry.

I have tried so very hard to love them. I refer to them as "we" when I am there. I try to tell myself I am down when they lose and I manage to affect something close to joy when they score but, alas, I just cannot love them for I have only one true love in football - The Arsenal

from '77 - '82....the games against Ajax and Feyenoord were the best...the whole town would be out to watch the fighting in the city center....

Driking beer on a proper terrace. The football was utter ****e, mind. Like watching a third division match with the teams doped on valium.

during the Crystal Palace heyday of Wright, Bright, Pards, Thomas and "Edu" McGoldrick. And John Salako.

My brother-in-law is a season ticket holder there, though not much of a football fan, oddly enough. Although, also in relation to that debate, maybe its better to say that he's actually an old school football fan in that it is merely something he modestly does, somewhere he quietly goes, rather than some sort of badge of honour he wears for show and shouts about.

Anyway, I once saw them beat Liverpool 1-0.
