If this is you cup of tea, enjoy:

in giving a nod to the wonderful Mark E. Smith, who I had the pleasure of interviewing back in 2001 for more than an hour on a hotel rooftop in Athens for a music TV show I was hosting.

you can listen to all the way through, without skipping any tracks. I might go and see them again when they go out to promote the new album (to be released this March) - last time I went was 2007 or 2008 I think, at the Roundhouse. I danced my arse off. Security were being c**ts and checking everyone for drugs at the door, the girl I was with had some MINTS, but they took them off her, insisting they were pills. So I stuck my charlie wrap up my arse almost and then ran to the toilets before it melted to devour it in one go. You can guess what kind of idiot I looked like after that - a very happy idiot though, me and 5,000 other idiots :-)

I especially liked it when he turned up in the criminally underrated weed dealer sitcom, Ideal, playing God.

Then again the Robey was mainly a one-off act like Ozric Tentacles.

By the time they moved onto The Rocket, Shoreditch Town Hall, Brixton they had bills which these days would amount to a mini-festival with Orbital, Underworld, Alex Paterson, Eat Static etc among many others.

Eye opening events for young naive Irish lads.

It used to be a great way for chatting up young totty but after a few hours of doing that in a sweaty club, pvmogged off my gourd, you did end up looking like a glowing smurf.

A fox she was, sniffing around what looked like the Haringey ladder and further down by Seven Sisters.

I nearly passed out at the prices.

I met Henry Rollins at won of his exhibitions once. Standing right next to a massive photo of Henry Rollins, he was. Amusingly it made him very self conscious.

I remember when singles had hooks, too. :-| I think 'Standalone track' would be a better description. I loved the early Underworld but I don't like The Fall enough to gush over this track, I'm afraid.

I have tix for The Stranglers in March, btw. Surely Jet Black is dead by now. Unlike others recently, the world will not even note their passing, let alone shed a tear for them, when their time comes. There is no God.

Wrote a Theatre of Hate review all about Kirk Brandon's ears. Probably the only time a gig in Gravesend got reviewed though, tbf.
