View Full Version : Would it be wrong to say that Joel Campbell is a little bit like

a new signing?

He was widely considered at best a squard player, if not completely ****. A warm body to call on when all others have fallen, but now he seems to be a Geniune Option. I'd rather start him ahead of Walcott currently when Alexis comes back. All these little balls he keeps sliding through defences would have people purring if Erzl made them. He works hard and he defends, which is why I was groaning when Ox replaced him, and of course he has a kind face.

Shame about the awkward business with the dummy, obviously, but that's surely nothing a hefty fine from the club couldn't sort out.

Not to write off a player but I can't see a future for the OX.

also if Jack is fit where does he fit in?

With our injuries there will always be room for Jack to do something.

useless c**t. But yes, he appears to be a proper player of sorts. “An option”, if you will.

a place in the side was unusual to say the least, last-resort story like Coquelin, but of such importance to the team. His creative play is fantastic. I was also bitterly disappointed he was taken off last night, but he did look a bit tired at that point. The Ox can't seem to do anything right, it must be a mental problem more than anything else.

Always followed him when he was at Southampton as he was a name we were always linked with.

seems to be going backwards. Maybe a hair cut will fix it.

appearances which are not ideal.

Though he is 22 he should be showing more by now.

Emre Can is 22 for example. or Harry Kane.

hasn't really started many games) keep piling up,leading to him being more and more desperate to impress, which, of course, just makes it worse. Hopefully he'll have a lucky break soon, even a fluke goal would be very welcome.

Wings and in midfield and it will only get worse once a few are fit again.

a chance in central midfield. One good performance, he starts the next game, and suddenly he’s the one people are talking about not wanting to drop. It's hardly improbable, is it?

Could you imagine a few months ago people saying they’d want Joel Campbell to start?

If he left next summer, it would be because Wenger has decided he’s not up to it and never will be.

He may leave for more money, of course. But that is no longer such a big risk for us as a club and also would any clubs who may be interested really pay him more than he gets now?

Or would he leave for more playing time? At his age and having never actually forced himself into the first team on regular basis? That would be some serious chutzpah, not to mention a big career risk, joining a club with a manager that isn't as patient as Wenger.

Nah, not for me Clive.

he actually has a better scoring record playing for England.

And like Jack, he stands out for England because both of them are actually better than most of their team-mates at football. Ox's problem is form, not ability.

been a bit **** this season and doesn’t deserve to go to the Euros.

Anyway, I don't think he's been *that* bad. I just don't think he's stepped up to the next level in terms of consistency and also made the small improvements in his game that are required to make it a club like Arsenal.

I think he's unbelievably talented and would be gutted to see him lave at the age of 22.

We don't have to keep selling our best players any more. :cloud9:

his running power and when you’re desperate to make an impression you naturally want to show your best strengths as often as possible. But the reality is you need to pick and choose when you run at the opposition depending on how a game is going. And of course the more you lose the ball, the more you lose confidence.

I have a feeling he might be a player who only fully blossoms in a few years. Hopefully that will be with us. But I envisage a squad role for a fair while yet.

To give up all hope of snatching a title from the hands of richer clubs is kinda similar in some ways to the spendsomefackinmoney mindset, in that it downplays the virtues of good management.

Somebody explained to me that it was all about distancing one's self from the SSFM chaps, and not necessarily a reflection of a person's actual views.

Hence the inter-factional bitterness.

I assumed he was ****. Cause :wengerknows: But his vision and control are delightful and you gotta love the effort.

Ox is now central midfield having effectively been pushed out.
