Pretty sub-optimal day, yesterday

I go to the dentist to have an abscess sorted out, only to end up having a tooth removed and some impromptu, off the cuff, root canal surgery at the same time.

To top it all off I get out of the dentists to find I have a parking ticket for going 12 minutes over my allotted time and then when I get home I get a call to say my grandad has died suddenly.

Short of ****ting myself on public transport it's quite hard to imagine how much worse the whole thing could have got.

Though I was just using it in a sort of "how **** can a day get?" context rather than a plea for sympathy.

Asking for sympathy here does seem akin to requesting a bacon sarnie at a synagogue.
