those things I like to get for myself. I now have a range of non-uniform kitchen knives, which I find a tiny bit annoying.

As a fun thing, I mean. Obviously, I see their practical worth, but can't ever imagine enjoying using one.

for which I have a plastic pocket. With a neck strap.

I'm also going to invest in a thermos, in order to carry our own tea. Milky tea. With sugar.

A shouty man with a moustache taught me how to do it in the Brecon Beacons when I was about 14. I've forgotten it all now, of course.

I for one applaud the fact that you now ramble. Will you be growing a beard and taking an interest in dogs and halves of real ale?

We seem to have decided to go for a long weekend in France in Feb. I'm not really sure how this came about. I think I was sort of told it was happening. :-/

Sir Charlie of Nicholas

Somewhere in the warm areas?

Berni

You can go up to the Lakes and mildly rib the locals about how us southerners can get unimaginable luxuries like house insurance and how your living room isn't ankle deep in other people's jobbies. I'm sure they'll find it funny.

No, we seem to be trying to find somewhere acceptable in the bleak expanses of the P de C or Picardy. :-/

Oh, well. At least I can stock up on foie gras and confit de canard, I suppose.

I'd be tempted to head north and consider Bruges, or even Ypres.

Berni

The place is full of freeloaders, *****s and Allans.

Le Touquet, Etaples, Montreuil. Good seafood, at least.

Berni
01-04-2016, 11:25 AM
We could stay in the Coq Hotel and chuckle at its funny name.

Etaples used to have a lovely fish restaurant right above the fish market. Last time I looked in, it was a bit down-at-heel, though. Le Touquet's just a bit Kiss-Me-Quick these days.

1989. A mixture of rich Parisians visiting their residence secondaire, foul English golfers and, behind the Rue St Jean, a real, functioning town with real, functioning Frogs. But there are many perfectly decent restaurants and 3, possibly 4, exceptional ones. There are also many decent clothes shops to entertain the glw.

The end nearer the Westminster and especially the area to the south of the Rue St Jean are pretty much a real town, though.
