View Full Version : In ten years (or more likely much less) Arsene Wenger won’t be our manager and Spurs will have

a bigger stadium than us.

Happy Christmas :-(

He and his coaching staff, Cesc Fabregas and Tomas Rosicky, will have delivered 8 league titles and 5 European Cups.

Yes. All that groundwork laid by Arsene will have been worth it. :cloud9:

You might be dead in 10 years.

The presence or employment status of a football manager is not really that important.

my somewhat whimsical post above, then he will undoubtedly be seen as a latter-day Herbert Chapman, possibly on a larger scale. Should we be but reasoably successful, he'll be forgotten in a generation.

Mind you, if we do a post-Ferguson United when he goes, even the braindeads might come to appreciate how important he has been.

Arsene will be remembered as our best ever manager but maybe he will be John the Baptist? If the Kronke regime is replaced by a more ambitious owner(s) Wenger might be seen as a successful manager whose best legacy was the set-up he left behind.

which I found worrying at the time. I actually think we should have gone for a 75000+ stadium rivalling Wembley as the main sports/entertainment venue in the capital of the best city in the world.

Or, failing that, have everyone sit on eachother's laps.

By supporters he will be remembered, or seen by those who follow after his reign, as a very good manager who delivered tangible success.

In time ‘achievements’ such as continued top 4 finishes and subsequent European qualification during the period of relative financial drought will be viewed largely as an irrelevance.

I would say the above is fair as per your original question.

helping to cause the very congestion they complain about.

Which will be a shame because he's done ****loads more than that.

Not sure opening DP would really make a massive dent in this. You then have the issue of crowds gathering to enter that station post matches, itself possibly even closed post-midweek games, an issue beyond the control of Arsenal Football Club.

The congestion would be eased considerably if people went to the pub after games and drank heavily.

But not half as much as that achievement deserves.

The stadium to be fair was more a massive achievement by the board. Not just him.

from entering. If instead they allowed 40/50 at a time (which is what the lifts can take, they could move 700/800 an hour. More if some chose to walk down the steps.

Your upper ranges of 800 per hour and 50 per lift equates to a lift fully occupying, travelling, fully exiting and back up every 3 minutes. This is simply not going to happen.

People are then being brought down to a southbound platform where trains are already very heavily congested with additional footfall from both Finsbury Park and Arsenal stations, so not all can board and crowd problems soon arise.

While it is an inconvenience to some, there is probably a very good reason why this station is not opened.

The person that stood in the queue then could have walked the short distance to one of the alternative stations and been happily on his or her journey by then.
