The sun is shining and the weekend beckons. I'm rather looking forward to a quiet Saturday of gentle pottering; the chicken coop requires some maintenance and I have some short ribs which I will put in the oven to braise all day. I'm still a little undecided about whether to keep them very plain, (beer, stock, touch of thyme) or spice them up a little.

I am very much thinking that, at this age, it makes absolute sense to have an end date in mind - consider how, for example, financial planning would be simplified if one had foreknowledge of one's check out date.
