I wasn't around to follow up the post yesterday but my point, which seemed to avoid everyone, was whether rude and unkind words should be a matter for the police.

I dont think they should. Once it is a crime to upset someone with our words (according to the self-proclaimed victim) we are on the proverbial hand-cart to hell imo.

We can't be having punchups on public transport.

I wouldn't say it's a police matter, more a "you've got a right to give the c**t a proper slap" matter.

if so then I agree with your point..if something needs laws to back it up then its generally not quite right

An alternative would be to call them a c**t and wish cancer upon them.

Apologise if I've jumped to conclusions here...

Police aren't necessarily looking into it because nasty words are bad - if there is clearly a campaign on the underground (which we don't know if it is or just a one-off) and it has the potential to escalate into a more serious incident (which this clearly does have) then the police are quite sensible to investigate. Are you really saying they are in the wrong to try and gather more information on the matter?

but I do think fat-shaming cards should be.

Although with the endless banging on about obesity from on-high and demands to tax sugar, some aspects of the message are not so different from what we constantly hear from respectable sources.

once you have another offer on the table..so when I say f**k off then..you have somewhere to f**k off too..

Given how people are encouraged to take offense, and how keen most people are to dish it out on here, and online generally, the police could become very busy.

Of course it is - and probably the best way to deal with it is a quick visit from PC Dixon and a "Now, now son, stop being a prat. Let's here no more about it."

Proper community policing imo

Or do you think they should still just stand about at street corners modelling trousers?
