was the financial return the games would bring? I suspect it's very hard to estimate these matters, but I read recently that hosting the event cost 9 bn, and returned 13 bn, a profit of 4 bn of the sterling pounds.

The stadia have, in effect, more than paid for themselves, if those figures are to be believed.

In short, f**k those freeloading West Ham c**ts.

A peppercorn rent of one or two million a year, but the taxpayer will pay the running costs - ticketing, stewarding, policing, pitch maintenance, and even the goalposts and nets, all of which are worth more than the rent.

I thought the point of hosting the Olympics was a spot of good old-fashioned vanity and prestige, rather than any actual cash ROI. And in this case, an excuse to regenerate a run-down part of the capital, which to these eyes has been a success.

I know you are cool with the wealth and funding of Chelsea and City, which in its way is admirable and a testiment to the devout Christian values you so inspirationally uphold. Some of us, though, are prepared to indulge a spot of seething resentment on behalf of the interests of the club we love, and I'm sure we can be forgiven for that.

They are rebranding themselves as London West Ham, a la PSG - a **** club with no history* that has become France's leading Soccerball Franchise. :-(

Their being sugar daddied and/or spending money “they don’t have” doesn’t bother me at all. Is it right? Probably not but that is their business decision and how they choose to operate. We run our business in a manner we see fit and do a very good job of it.

I simply do not think jealousy, or seething resentment for that matter, is healthy.

Life is short A. Too short for such emotions. Just enjoy*.

But it is a rare soul who follows football unemotionally, and when you desperately want to win the league after what is now quite some time, and seeing this aspiration made harder and harder by increasing numbers of clubs winning the lottery, as it were, it is understandable that disappointment will usher in other feelings.

But we can still win the league this year, so enjoy the show. :thumbup: I shall probably spend the evening watching suicide bombers blowing up spectators at Wembley. :-(
