We know how civil wars work. A bunch of uppity oiks take up arms against their betters and get soundly thrashed, or a nasty, brutal dictator gets wiped out by a righteously angry populace. Easy to understand, easy to pick a side.

These Syrian types seem to have about 8 teams all fighting each other. Who on earth can tell what the f**k is going on there?

Essentially, if we are to get rid of ISIS, someone is going to have to suffer as well. Others will win (Assad), of course.

I admire our reasoning for helping rid these countries of their vile dictators and install western style democracy, but if we look at recent case studies in Iraq, Libya etc, it is clear that these folk aren't all that good at democracy. Getting rid of a dictator seems to transform the country into a free for all.
