Parents:

"Make sure you keep your eyes open, you know what to look out for"

(Men with guns I presume)

"You're not going if they're talking about this sort of thing"

(Unsure how to respond)

Work colleagues:

"Are you going to get public transport this week, do you think it's safe?

(I don't know, I'm not a terrorist, nor intelligence services. Why would you not get the tube?)

My friends:

"I'd go to Paris now, probably ****loads safer than London. Try and get another week off, probably good deals"

(No response)

If in a restaurant etc, I say that as soon as you see the arab with the gun, drop to the floor. Then when he pauses to insert a new magazine, lift the table up and use as a shield while you flee the building.

Probably because he owes me money. Which is fair enough, I suppose.

legging it involves getting physically closer to them in the process.

From the descriptions of all these attacks, the shooters seem to methodically pick people off. You never hear about them targeting runners, as in a crowded place they’ll always have plenty of cowering types to aim directly at.

You could say the squad needed trimming for a while

to shoot you. If you could get close enough you'd probably be able to tackle him to the ground.

Of course, this does not help much if he has a bomb strapped to him, but there you go.

glasses/plates etc at his head. One direct hit and he'll be dazed/knocked out.

You can be the hero, J.

Amusingly, some of the vest in the world is manufactured in a nondescript building in Coventry two doors down from a mosque.
