Was with a mate of mine who is a Wolves fan and had just got the train back. The lad was a dead ringer for Mark but a bit larger so very believable that it was his brother. Seemed happy enough anyway

so I used to see them quite a bit, Ben Thatcher was really nice , as opposed to when he played.
Mark Kennedy used to drink Guinness and black, also Andy Roberts, if you remember him, has an identical twin called Mike.
There's some useless **** for you

For instance, I know what Mark Draper looked like, so I knew it had to be the other fella.

Well, **** mixed with the intimate knowledge of the preferred alcoholic drinks of obscure footballers' brothers.

I can't remember the name of the bloke or his brother.

Once, when he was reported to be injured at Newcastle, he played for us as a ringer. No one recognised him initially, but suspicions were raised when it was noted that his calves were the same size as a normal human's torso.

It was eventually agreed that if he did the decent thing and f**ked off, no one would report him to the league. And the ref gave them a penalty.

I'm pretty sure the same friend knew his brother as well , used to get him signed Newcastle stuff.
I'm near you so probably played for/against the same teams.

Is Bexley your home turf then? I lived in Bexley village between 1976 and 1983.

Used to play for a team in Bomley in the Bexley and District league :-)

edit for some reason this shambles of a board isn't showing the r in Bomley, even though I can see it in the preview.

I have a vivid memory of scoring a try at your place for the U15s on a particularly nasty cold, grey muddy day.

Eltham College and St Dunstans , who we 'amusingly' referred to as Saint Dustbins (we were young).
I remember playing in a football tournament at Eltham College which was abandoned due to hailstones, we obviously weren't any tougher in those days.

Malcolm Pratt, by the way) with the assistance of a young math's teacher. It was a major achievement getting our headmaster (who had been Head since the 50s) to agree for us to represent the school at this ruffian's game.

Our first game was against Quernmore at home. They decided that they would teach the poshos a lesson, and it descended into a major brawl, as a result of which I was suspended from school and the team almost disbanded before it got started. :hehe:

Good timez indeed.
