View Full Version : So it's now possible, aparently, to pay three pounds sterling for a 330ml can of water. Indifferent

The USP being the resealable 'ring-pull'. Yes, that's defintely worth it. Not at all like a bottle with a lid. Oh no, siree bob.

The same volume of canned beer, which is, like, actually made of stuff, including the ingredients and the stored-up labour power of the people that made it, and has alcohol in it, and is heavily taxed, is about 66 pence if you find the right off-licence. A little more elsewhere.

The world has officially gone mad. First Monty Python, and now Reginald Perrin are coming true.

I know it's a silly prejudice, but canned beer is one of my red line issues... or red stripe issues, I suppose.

of self-respect.

But canned beer even tastes ****ty when decanted into a glass like a civilised human in my experience.

And for real luxury there is the occasional, lavish and extravagent visit to the pub.

500ml bottles of Banks' Bitter in Tesco (always labelled 'Good with Fish', for some bizarre reason  ) at a mere 90p per bottle as it's a perfectly decent tipple, but would feel quite wrong about paying more for a 500ml can of London Pride or something.

Primarily driven by American brewers who had to facilitate the change to allow consumers to bring their products into events such as musical concerts and those taking part in large sporting arenas, where obviously bottle may not be welcome.

The inner coating / lining has been modified to such an extent as to render the former taste obsolete.

The innovation has since migrated to the UK and beyond.

See Beavertown Neck Oil or Gamma Ray for local users of such technology.
