Weapons about the house

I want a sword, my other half isnt too happy about the idea and put her dainty foot down when I saw one in a shop the other day. She's not really too up for the whole weapons-cache-in-the-house business.

I have some implements with which to assail burglars and jehovas witnesses (they can also be a bit tasty sometimes) but none of them are a proper weapon. They're only a hand axe and a pick axe handle.

What weapons do you have about the house?

handle and it has a lead knob on the end. I've had it for years. No idea whatsoever where I acquired it.

Seriously, though, a sword? Isn't that a bit 'Martial Arts-obsessed loner'?

I dont want a samurai sword, I just want to be able to unsheath it in the event of a burglary.

I feel I've gone beyond the whole pickaxe handle thing and the axe isnt big enough to look properly menacing.

Where I used to live there was a bloke on the roof he legged it I felt quite tough.

shotgun - you're not going to be in the right frame of mind for precise aiming

short barrel - people underestimate how tight the space is if you are in your house

not too powerful - you don't want to be going through the perp and hitting things behind him

semiautomatic - hold 8, reloading is rather inconvenient in such circumstances

can be fairly easily controlled with one arm - You might be pinned down

solid construction - in case you need to hit someone with it.

Downside is that it does take a fair amount of practice. Then again that's fun in and of itself.

It killed him right enough, but not as quickly as I would have liked. He was still able to plead with his eyes and choke on his own blood for a good 30 seconds after I'd put two shells in him. Something for the manufacturer to work on there, I'd say.'

You'd have to carry it around with you, and then keep it next to the bed at night, which sounds like an accident waiting to happen.

solves the one downside to a shotgun which is the reload. Not so easy in the dark with your heart racing and the perp still presumably upright!
