hope from your player in that situation. Defended his colleague, stood his ground, gave some verbals. I think all of us would like to see little bit more of that kinda stuff from our players.

I would tell him to do exactly the same next time, except the kick.

As for Costa, what can you say? He is a brilliant, brilliant wind-up merchant. It's just a shame that the incident that has probably ensured he will need to dial down all of that **** was against us.

I don't think Gabriel would've been allowed to walk away with Costa towards the half-way line in previous Arsenal teams, he would've been taken to one side and removed from the situation.

The whole thing was so blindingly predictable once it started.

Most chaps on here would love it, and defend him, if he was employed by Arsenal.

was to get a result against Chelsea

Debauchy and Arteta clearly lacking little bit sharpness and resting Cech was always gonna get people’s backs up if we lost, even if Ospina could have done nothing for the goals.

Aren't they both yellow card offences? Then hands raised to opponent's face twice.

Jake

You could argue the same for the others, tbh.

and Wenger has all the data about which players are fatigues, so how can we say who should or shouldn't have played?

Cech is obviously more clear cut and I understand people being pissed off he didn't play.

The hand to the face was obviously naughty, but without Kos going down, that was never, ever going to be a red card.

The moral of the story being: go the f**k down, Kos.

Jake

To not play him a month or so into the season in our first champions league game, which is away from home, is utterly nonsensical.

To argue otherwise is simply playing devil's advocate.

wave at a referee, I'd imagine. A lot would depend on how good the offending player is at mime, I suppose.

so much so that no one does it in the PL....apart from Costa

Jake

Arteta I think you could argue simply because the player preferred to him is that much better. Same goes for Ospina/Cech.

I feel like Arsene must undervalue Coquelin/a player of that style's contribution to the team, because otherwise we would have a more able deputy. It doesn't make any sense.

Change 5 for example in the League Cup and nobody would bat an eyelid.

Goalkeeper, 50% of your defence plus the midfield player one would assume was primarily charged with covering or aiding said defence.

Still, I did think it was a good enough side when I first saw it. Maybe we thought Zagreb would just be a little easier than it turned out, then of course we were further destabilised by the sending off.

it was a good chance to do so

In reality the waving of a yellow card is no different than claiming a throw-in or goal-kick / corner when you know the decision should go against you. Both are simply examples of trying to exert influence on the match officials decision making.

Jake

It harks back to **** like playing Aliadiere in the FA Cup to rest Thierry for the CL.

Crappy decision-making.

Also, a league cup tie the week later probably looks like a "good chance" as well and certainly the more logical one. Whereas now we'll likely play a stronger side in order to avoid three straight defeats.

imaginary yellow card. Alexis has a penchant for it as well

Ospina/Cech is hardly comparable to Henry/Aliadiere

:kissofdeath: but they did look really poor, we just didn't turn up

Jake
09-21-2015, 11:04 AM
Ergo you look at the decisions and changes and think what was necessary and what was not and you see there was at least one undeniably illogical change that can be pointed to, whether the team that was fielded should have won or not.

Some things Arsene does are clearly inexplicably irrational and I'm baffled as to why you can't just accept this :hehe:

Ashberto

dismissed. Both cheating, but a difference in order of magnitude. It's the combination of diving and waving the imaginary yelow that is particularly irksome.
