I didn't even realise it was Open House Weekend, and literally stumbled upon it while strolling past St James' Palace. Always nice to see how the other 0.0001% lived.

Impressively big table in the meeting room of the Commonwealth Secretariat, for which the building is now used. A few surprising flags though. Cameroon? Mozambique? They were never painted red in the glory days, surely.

Also, Ireland seemed to be missing? :hehe:

Cameroon - Most of the country was the formerly French mandate territory (later UN trust territory) of Cameroun and gained independence from France on 1 January 1960, uniting with the much smaller former British mandate/trust territory of Southern Cameroons on its gaining independence from the United Kingdom on 1 October 1961.

Mozambique - Gained independence from Portugal on 26 June 1975. The first country to be admitted to the Commonwealth without any former colonial or constitutional links with the United Kingdom.[26] However, British troops were present in the country during the World War I East Africa Campaign.

And to think people worry about refugees and immigrants coming over here. A truly amazing lack of self-awareness from the kneejerk, righ-ring meme sharing general public there.

Built for the wife of John Marlborough, after whom Great Marlborough Street was named, where the ciggie factory was that Marlboro got the name from.
