View Full Version : Jorge – re Arteta. He’s not enough to be a ‘continuity’ player higher up the pitch for us. Our game

in the final third is about mobility and ultra-quick transitions. Arteta may have looked good playing that role with Everton, but at Arsenal he would be out of his depth. Instead we adjusted his role to fit his experience and intelligence. Yes he can pass the ball but that is a non-negotiable when you play in midfield for Arsenal. But he cannot do what is required to play higher up the pitch.

Many seem to think his inclusion is a simple case of to replace the young French.

required to play deeper. Yes, he will lose the occasional physical battle, but I think the benefits he provides from that position offset those occasions.

Or I suspect that's what Wenger has concluded, anyway.

Bit of a niche, almost special teams, role granted but if we were to be looking to ride a game out then he'd be perfect.

I think he has immense value as a player but I dont think he can do half of what coq can, whatever other abiities he has, and we'll eventually come to regret not getting another coq-esque player in.

Cazorla has been utterly magnificent in his somewhat new role.

You often appear to assume comments made relevant to one player automatically are a stain on others.

as our ‘defensive midfielder’ is hugely experienced and, according to Wenger, highly influential in the dressing room for his leadership and tactical advice, is not considered good enough BACK UP.

As I’ve said before, I still reckon if we’d signed Coquelin for 20 million, these conversations wouldn’t even be taking place

I feel you have little bit lack of respect for me here.
