Basically it means he has to either sit on the bench (too good for that, imo) or he has to displace one of Cazorla/Coqulein. Now, faced with a choice of displacing one of those two players, I'm afraid it'd have to be Cazorla. But this is frustrating as he is also one of our best players. What do you think?

One argues that when Ozil is asked to play non-centrally, or Cazorla shifted to the left that each of these players is lessened and we make excuses for them, yet Ramsey is being asked to play a role by Wenger which we all know is ever so foreign to him (albeit that none of these players are restrained in their movement when the above occurs).

I think “been far and away our worst player this season” is both wrong and also very mean.

I am sorry but Ramsey is one of the few things he and I agree on. In fact I stated my opinion of Ramsey before, during and after during his good spell a year or so ago and our Canadian friend said the same. This is nothing new from me.

Of course this may be the very first time I am wrong about a player. Well since the last time.

I wish to be proved wrong of course, but I see him as our weakest link by far.

but it has been a very long time since Ramsey has been playing well, even when in the centre. So who has been worse than him so far this season? Giroud? Walcott? They have hardly played whereas he has been in every game and poor in all of them, whatever the position. I really hope he improves as we do need a good midfielder.

Yet again Aaron is pushing to the fore of being an easy target.

I don’t think either Giroud nor Walcott have played really well this season, for that matter I don’t think Chamberlain really has or Sanchez has (a player who possibly, in the absence of statistical information to back up my suspicions, concedes possession as much as if not more than other outfield players but is never called on it simply because he is so good otherwise) but one will find reason for this related to fitness and summer exertions.

Our best performance to date, that I have witnessed (saw none of Newcastle), has been Palace and I thought Ramsey was good that game. Of course he tried things which did not work, he always does and on many occasions before on here it has been discussed that perhaps he needs to remember the effectiveness of simplicity.

I presume you were drinking. I know we were poor generally but he slows our play down so much as he cannot control the ball or gives it away too often. Towards the end of the game he played a couple of good passes, one first time that was excellent, but overall he contributed very little. Missed a sitter too, which is usually his strength.

He is the opposite of Chamberlain actually, starts slow but maintains that pace until the end when other players become slower whereas Chamberlain starts like a typhoon and dies around 60 minutes.

In his 6 years he has been good for 1, maybe 1 and a half. What was it, 6 goals last year from a player whose main attribute is that?

I agree with Sanchez. He gets his head down and goes. Often tackled and has an annoying habit of dropping into midfield and then trying a long ball over the top. Still, making an scoring goals regularly will atone for that. Too early to say about this season as he is 2 weeks behind everyone from pre-season

Again with Chamberlain, does the same but with less success than Sanchez. His passing is poor to say the least but his pace a trickery will create things.

What I am saying is that Ramsey has to do the same or the rest of his game is not good enough. His link play is far too slow, unless he flicks it :-)

Or was at times last season which resulted in (quite a) public rebuke from AW.

He is probably a normal off the shelf ‘British’ midfielder, except he is an exceptionally talented one which elevates him above most and allows him to play for us in Wenger’s teams.

He may suffer in comparison with technically superior players such as Cazorla or Ozil, being the obvious ones whose presence is causing AR to be shunted around, however he has attributes that perhaps these two lack. It’s the combination and mix of all these different but complementing talents that will make a successful team.

On that issue probably 99% of footballerss in the PL suffers in comparison to players such as the two I mentioned.

Superb footballer, superb future, should start every week centrally.
