Even though we all know it's just part of an elaborate ploy to impress Neg and get in his knickers.

Monty91

I think given the current climate, going with a refugee angle was too tempting for them to resist. There's even a link to a separate refugee story in the middle of the article.

In other words, they've turned my piece into click-bait :-(

I hadn't read that for a while.

I like this line

"It was the final sentence. Final sentences are very, very important."

As if 90 per cent of people who read his **** would get that far down

He is an artist, la. Highly strung. Like a racehorse. The poor chap has seen his art butchered.

I'm amazed he kept such a level head.

it's typographically ugly and - if you use drop caps - makes a mess of things. Hence their rather mystifying decision to write the number out in words rather than do the simple thing and make sure it started with a word.

I was talking over the weekend to an american chap about publishing - print and online - and the odd little differenced in conventions.

To me, 2d does not say second, whereas 2nd does. Opposite in the US, but the web seems to be changing that now.

As you can imagine, everyone else started their own conversations and left us to it.

I have little or no exposure to his writing but on those occasions I have seen him on the television he has always come across as a chap you would dearly love to chin.
