View Full Version : On Saturday night, I became inebriated. Last cricket match of the season, real ale festival.

Needless to say, I partook in no uncertain terms, losing count of my consumption once I had been through the card of 12 different ales and then starting on the ciders. During the course of the evening, I was at various points: drinking with Monty Panesar; acting as impromptu backing singer with the band (at their behest); dancing somewhat saucily with a charming Irish lady, whose husband took exception to this, going so far as to take a swing at me (no harm done); making friends with said husband and finishing the evening taking drugs with him, his wife and various total strangers in the back of a van until about 3 in the morning, at which point I walked six miles home.

All in all, a good night. However, the remarkable thing is that, having nervously checked various social media over the last 36 hours, I seem to have escaped the attention of any cameraphones. This is getting away with it to no small extent and I consider it to be a victory over the evils of the modern world that no visual record exists of any of this dreadful behaviour. http://www.awimb.com/images/smiley_icons/clap.gif

Although I wouldn't have minded a pic of me drinking with Monty, tbf. http://www.awimb.com/images/smiley_icons/ohwell.gif

Well, as perfect a gentleman as one can be while publicly grinding pelvises ('pelvi'?) with another man's wife, anyway.

I can only imagine how dreadful yesterday was.

I was in shocking state myself on Saturday and awoke yesterday morning to be reminded that family swimming had been agreed.

International football each day though I swerved Friday night's encounter with the mighty Gibraltar, rugby international, couple of massive GAA matches and then an evening of unsurpassed musical output of Sky Arts on Saturday.

I was so sick yesterday I even watched cars driving round in circles at extreme speeds.

Needless to say my Mrs was properly f**ked off with it all.

My glgf was in hospital Thursday and is now housebound due to her gammy knee. I spent the evening with her being attentive and tender on Friday.

Then, was up at 9 on Saturday to go to Gillingham avec the chaps, watched some terrible football, got fairly pissed, returned to London circa 6ish, had dinner at spoons with the larger group, including glgf's good friends, went on to a night, ingested numerous things, getting home at 9am yesterday. Slept to 5pm, got up, had fishfingers and chips, watched the Welsh, then went back to bed.

The doghouse, I am in.

I sobered up though. Saw the Gibraltar game - or parts of it as I was watching Germany Poland at the time. Keane really is a spawn c**t.

If you haven't seen Lewandowski's goal I would advise you seek it out - a thing of beauty imo

Every other ****e match on the continent except the one everybody wanted to see.

Welsh match was tedious last night. They are like an average Premiership team with one real stand out player. Must be like deja vu for Bale.

Was my evening meal one day last week.

Oven chips naturally.

I'd have England down as a below-average Premiership team. For the previous several matches their best player has been a bloke who can't get in the Arsenal team and played out of position.

Saturday night was hugely enjoyable I must say.

Imagine my surprise when I checked the listings and found a then unseen Specials concert lined up as the supporting act.

Surprised there was not involvement from a few fairly active people from the time such as Denis Munday and PW's sister who has curated the event at Somerset House.

I knew Bilbo was a fan just not sure he really fitted in with the various others, apart from maybe the young lad who I thought PW was going to laugh at.

Enjoyed the gig, cracking set list.

Watched some of that ages ago.

Musically sound for a few songs but I can't get myself away from thinking JL is a bell-end.

That being essential for textural reasons when served on nice fresh white bread. Has to be white. None of this modern day thinking gayness involving seeds and such like.

Still an amazing album and I'm glad people seem to rate Bodies as their finest moment, as well as recognising their influence and uderplayed technical aptitude too.

I still think Lydon is an absolute hero, though that's me speaking as an outspoken, anglo-irish republican from Finsbury Park.

Yes I know he was JR in them days but very unbecoming for a man of such years. Oddly enough I dragged a few mates along to see PIL here about 2-3 years ago and they were immense. He was mouthy of course but relatively well behaved.

I’ve seen that classic albums before. Very under-rated station at times is Sky Arts.

This is what happens when the internets allow just anyone to set up a blog and think they're important. I'd rather have had more content from the actual band members and less from the various fans. When they introduced these characters they all did this strange, un-natural walk that looked utterly contrived and ridiculous. Whoever made them do that needs shooting.

Yes, great set. Private Hell cuts me up every time I hear it. For that alone yer man stands out as a hell of a songwriter. Tragic that he died in back in 1982, of course. :-(

Lydon gets on my tits tbh. He's actually more pompous than Captain Mainwairing, if that's possible.

Public Image, though. f**king hell what a guitar sound on their flagship single. I didn't realise that it had influenced Bob Mould till I read his biog last year and listening to it now it makes sense.

Watched the Sid programme. Best bits were the contributions from Matlock, Vanian and Scabies. Malcolm McLaren makes me want to put my foot through the telly. :grundy:

Also, the fact he irrirtates people is a fairly major part of his charm.
